Owner Seth Kevorkian would often spend time in the wood shop at the makers space, ending his creative session with a beer from next door. When that brewery closed, he saw an exciting opportunity to open up his own brewery in the space – right in the heart of downtown Greensboro. Did you know "Greensboro" is named after Revolutionary War hero, Nathanial Greene? "My idea was let's name [the brewery] Nathanial Green – but that really wasn't marketable. So we changed Nathanial to "Natty," still paying homage to the namesake of our city," explains President and Owner Chris Lester. Selling its first beer in August of 2004, Duck Rabbit Craft Brewery is a huge part of our state's craft brewing history! With only about 20 other breweries open in North Carolina at the time, Duck Rabbitt opened in Farmville, NC over 20 years ago.
"When we started, it was a significant battle to get consumers to accept the idea that they might like to enjoy a boutique product... that's made by their friends and neighbors down the road," Owner Paul Philippon shares.
