Haw River Farmhouse Ales | Cellarperson & Production Assistant
Haw River Farmhouse Ales, a small (1500bbl/year) family-owned craft brewery located in Saxapahaw, NC since 2014, is currently interviewing candidates for a full-time Cellarperson/Production Assistant position to join our small but dedicated brewery team. Job Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with canning/packaging days at the brewery. This is a primary part of the role.
Perform routine cellaring operations under the oversight of the Head Brewer, including but not limited to: tank CIP/SIP, cleaning of vessel exteriors, keg washing, keg filling, inventories, etc... Professional experience preferred, but training provided. The motivated candidate will have room for advancement in this area.
Driving/learning to safely drive a variety of work vehicles, including 15+ft box trucks.
Preparation, loading and safe transportation of finished pallets of beer among locations.
Daily brewery maintenance and cleaning, as well as scheduled maintenance and cleaning days at both brewery and storage facility.
Accept/process deliveries at the brewery (raw supplies, packaging supplies, etc...) and document appropriately. Forklift and pallet jack operation required; experience preferred, but training provided.
Participate in sensory/palate training.
Assist occasionally with off-site events, such as beer festivals.
Assist Head Brewer with other assigned tasks, such as inventory, logistics, etc…
A good candidate will have an opportunity to eventually be trained on our 10bbl brewhouse.

BREWER
New River Brewing | Assistant Brewer
Nestled in the breathtaking landscape of West Jefferson—fondly known as \"The Coolest Corner of North Carolina\"—New River Brewing embodies the spirit of the High Country. Since our founding in 2017, this family-owned craft brewery has evolved organically alongside the pristine waters and majestic peaks that inspire our creations. Beginning as a nano production brewery, we\'ve grown through thoughtful expansion— first as a brewpub in 2019, then evolving in 2021 to include both a dedicated brewery/taproom and our restaurant, NRB Ale House, both located in West Jefferson. Our 2024 return to wholesale distribution now brings New River\'s distinctive brews to communities throughout the High Country and Piedmont regions.
Due to our continued growth, New River Brewing is looking to add an experienced brewer to its production team. Responsibilities will include a combination of brewing, cellaring, and packaging. Full time compensation includes competitive pay rate, health benefit (through the NC Brewers Guild cooperative), 401(k) matching and 12 days PTO. Salary will be based on candidate\'s experience.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Ability to execute all hot side wort production duties including milling, mashing, lautering, wort boiling, cooling and transferring on a manual 2 vessel 5-barrel system.
Perform routine analytical tests throughout the brewing process in accordance with quality control standard operating procedures.
Execute daily cellaring duties including but not limited to clean in place procedures, dry hopping, fruiting, transferring brite beer, carbonating brite beer, and kegging.
Routine cleaning and maintenance of the brewhouse and cellar.
Assist Head brewer with yeast management (Yeast cropping, cell counts, pitch rates, and generation tracking).
Monitor fermentation data and make corrections based on critical control points.
Work with all production employees to maintain raw ingredient and finished product inventories and FIFO procedures.
Periodically assist with canning runs.
Desired Qualifications
A minimum of 1 year of previous production brewing experience in a brewery producing at least 1,000 bbls a year.
A formal brewing degree or diploma is a plus, but a self-starting attitude and strong work ethic are essential.
Understanding of theoretical brewing science and alcoholic fermentation.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with a team in order to maintain an efficient workflow.
Must be capable of repeatedly lifting up to 165 pounds on a daily basis.
Safely handle and utilize chemicals in accordance with standard operating procedures.
