NC Breweries Celebrate Success at World Beer Cup 2024

Las Vegas, NV - North Carolina's independent craft breweries have once again garnered attention on the international stage, securing an impressive array of medals at the 2024 World Beer Cup. Organized by the Brewers Association, this prestigious competition drew 2,060 breweries from 50 nations, competing across 110 categories encompassing 172 different beer styles.

Following seven days of intensive evaluation by a distinguished panel of 280 judges representing 37 countries, North Carolina breweries emerged victorious, clinching an impressive total of eight medals, highlighting the states’ brewing ingenuity. 

Below are the North Carolina breweries that secured medals:

  • Forgotten Road Ales (Graham, NC) - Shannon Drive: Gold in the Scottish-Style Ale category

  • Swells’a Brewing Beer Company (Kill Devil Hills, NC) - Jimmy Buffet Ruined My Life: Gold in the Juicy or Hazy Imperial IPA category

  • Sierra Nevada Brewing Company (Mills River, NC) - Mills River's Weizenbock: Gold in the German-style Weizenbock category

  • Hi-Wire Brewing (Asheville, NC) - Churro 10-W40 Imperial Stout: Silver in the Dessert Stout category

  • Brewers at 4001 Yancey (Charlotte, NC) - Dream Beer: Bronze in the Fruit Wheat Beer category

  • Bill's Brewing Company (Wilmington, NC) -  Honey Drip: Bronze in the English-Style Brown Ale category

  • Brewery Bhavana (Raleigh, NC) - Piglette: Bronze in the Specialty Saison category

  • Hoptown Brewing (Mooresvillle, NC) -  Sweet Wings: Bronze in the Honey Beer category
