What is “Pop The Cap?”
“Pop The Cap” was a grassroots movement started in 2003 by a group of passionate North Carolinians dedicated to transforming the state's beer laws. Their goal was to raise the alcohol by volume (ABV) cap from 6%, a restriction that had been in place since Prohibition. After tireless advocacy, their efforts succeeded in 2005 when Governor Mike Easley signed HB 392 into law, increasing the ABV cap to 15%. This milestone paved the way for the growth and innovation of North Carolina's craft beer industry.
“It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
